About Tammy Karamarinov

In 2008, Tammy Karamarinov retired from the U.S. Air Force and took part in a ceremony in Abington, Virginia, to celebrate her years of service. At the ceremony, the University of Tennessee Honor Guard performed a flag folding ritual and posted its colors. Although Tammy Karamarinov is officially retired, she continues to serve the Air Force as a civilian at its Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where she is a pharmacist for its inpatient program. In addition to her duties as a pharmacist, she prepares intravenous medications and nutrition programs for those who require it. Tammy Karamarinov regularly coordinates medication therapy with patients’ providers to ensure proper dosage and frequency.

Just prior to retiring, Tammy Karamarinov served as Lead Pharmacist for the outpatient program at the U.S. Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs. She worked with providers on a daily basis and conducted prescriptive authority consults with patients and providers regarding drug interactions. During the first quarter of 2009, Tammy Karamarinov served as a civilian pharmacist at the Academy and gave instruction on emergency medications at the Air Force Academy’s Midyear Pharmacy Conference. Tammy Karamarinov held a number of positions with the U.S. Air Force, including Officer in Charge of the inpatient/outpatient pharmacy in San Antonio, Texas; Flight Commander of the clinic pharmacy in Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany; Chief of the inpatient pharmacy in Dayton, Ohio; and the pharmacy’s Flight Commander in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In 1990, Tammy Karamarinov enrolled in The University of Oklahoma, located in Norman, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and made the Dean’s list in 1990, 1991, and 1992. In addition, she won the prestigious Kappa Psi Leadership Award for her accomplishments and the impact she made on her community. Tammy Karamarinov holds membership in the Society of Air Force Pharmacy, an organization that promotes the practice of pharmacy in the Air Force and provides continuing education assistance to help members uphold the highest standards of care. She also belongs to the American Pharmacists Association and the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Tammy Karamarinov has dedicated her life to serving both her country and her community. She supports a number of charitable organizations and participates in several associations that provide aid to veterans.
